About this project
Circular Design project is the output of three years PhD research on Design for X (X = a circular design strategy) at University Iuav of Venice. The aim of this project is to help companies and students to learn, explore, play and try to use a collaborative approach to accelerate the circular economy from the earliest phase of the design process. The Circular Design project is managed by Alessio Franconi.
How does Circular Design Project work? This tool can be used in the early design phases to explore new possibilities in the circular economy.
Why Design for X (DfX)? DfX is a powerful methodology to break-up the complexity of product development through the fragmentation and simultaneous application of multiple design strategy.
Circular or sustainable DfX? Sustainable DfX can increase the effectiveness of circular DfX (Refuse, Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish, Remanufactured, Repurpose, Recycle, Recover).
Who is involved? All decision-makers should be involved in the design process and the tool should help to collaboratively design with a systemic view.
What’s next? The supreme aim of this project is to standardize DfX strategies to transfer the academic knowledge on circular economy to contemporary and future generation of designers.
